John Andrew MacPhee, died peacefully at age 88 on April 18, 2023 at his home with his wife, Valerie MacPhee, at his side. Jack was born in the Dr. E.C. Hazard Hospital, Long Branch and raised in Leonardo.
He was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School, Class of 1952 where he was awarded the Bausch and Lomb Award for excellence in science and Newark College of Engineering where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1966. In 1968 he received a Master of Science degree from the School of Engineering and Science at New York University.
Jack retired from Bell Laboratories, Holmdel Township.
He was a life member of the Millstone Township First Aid Squad, a member of the St. Joseph's Church Men's Guild where he was named Man of the Year for 2012-2013, CentraState Associated Auxiliaries, and the Woodworking Club of Marlboro, a former member of F Troop of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and former coach in the Colts Neck Little League.
He was predeceased by a brother, William MacPhee.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his children, Mary MacPhee, Richard MacPhee, Thomas MacPhee, Gregory MacPhee, Lynette Harms, and David Keldsen; 11 grandchildren, Rebecca, Amanda, Andrew, Matthew, Susan, Kyle, Timothy, Montana, Dalton, Henry, and Rylee several great grandchildren; a sister, Joan Klein; and 12 nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at. St. Joseph's Church, Millstone Township on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Men's Guild of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 91 Stillhouse Road, Millstone Township, NJ 08510 or CentraState Associated Auxiliaries, PO Box 32, Perrineville, NJ 08535 would be appreciated.
