John Roger Mallatt, age 78 of Butler, Missouri took his final ride, this one to heaven to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. He was born September 12, 1945 to John Preston and Vera Lucille Spears Mallatt in Butler, Missouri.
John, one of five children, grew up in Butler, Missouri and graduated from Butler High School. He married Karen Harper in 1983 who preceded him in death. John was a laborer and worked in maintenance his entire career. John was known to be able to fix anything that could be fixed mechanically, or at least diagnose the problem and tell you it could not be fixed. He was also known to not give up while working on something until the problem was solved.
John is described as being carefree, determined, easygoing, fair and non-judgmental toward everyone. Just two years ago John gave his life to the Lord and his family takes much comfort and peace in knowing that. His enjoyments included his Harley Davidson Panhead and Volkswagen Beetle. John had the opportunity to attend the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. He had always wanted to attend the world's largest motorcycle swap meet in Davenport, Iowa or "the big one" as he called it and just this last fall, his nephew Kyle made that dream come true. John was passionate about music and loved classic rock and roll.
John is survived by two brothers, Scott and Mike Mallatt Sr. and wife Suzie all of Butler, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Carla Besendorfer and husband Dan of Butler Missouri; three brothers-in-law, Kenny Cooper of Butler, Missouri, Gerald Shobe and wife Debra of Rich Hill, Missouri and Kenneth Barnes of Raytown, Missouri; four nephews, Brandon Berry and wife Stephanie, Michael Mallatt and wife Michelle, Kyle Mallatt and wife Rachelle, and Matt Mallatt and wife Stevie; a special niece Sharise Vaughn and husband John; his dog, Tiny; and many great-nieces and great nephews that he loved like his own. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Karen Harper Mallatt; two sisters, Sharon Barnes and Ramona Stone; one niece, Kendra Albert; and his dog, Monkey.
