John J. Mallozzi, Jr., a lifelong resident of Ambler passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Fort Washington Estates.
Born in Ambler, PA on December 5, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Asunda (née Rotelle) Mallozzi. He was a graduate of Ambler High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War, being stationed in Germany for a period of time.
John co-owned and operated Mallozzi’s Market, an Italian Specialty Store located on Main Street in Ambler, with his brother Stephen until later owning and managing Phil’s Tavern in Broad Axe. In his later years, John worked with his son-in-law, Adam, at his family’s business in Willow Grove, Sam’s Italian Market. He was also a member of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Maple Glen.
He is survived by daughters, Beth (Lance) Mallozzi-Roberts of Bala Cynwyd and Kimberly (Adam) Mallozzi-Mele of Ambler. He is also survived by grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph, and John Mele, and Brian and Ashley Roberts.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Alberta (née Urbach) Mallozzi; and siblings, Mary, Ann, Jane, Stephen, and Alice.
A funeral service honoring John’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home located at 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler, PA 19002. A viewing will be held in the funeral home beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be private in Rose Hill Cemetery.
