John Manginelli Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Memorial Home - Red Bank on Nov. 25, 2024.

John A. Manginelli passed away peacefully on Sunday surrounded by his family at Riverview Medical Center.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, John attended New York City Public Schools. From his humble beginnings as the child of immigrant parents, John quickly learned the value of hard work as a young boy when he frequently accompanied his father at work on his ice truck delivering ice to households and local businesses.
John's passion for business along with his relentless work ethic and leadership resulted in his creation and ownership of one of the largest employers on Staten Island, New York. John's entrepreneurial spirit spanned decades. In his most recent professional endeavor, John was elected to serve as Council President in the Borough of Tinton Falls where he served his community since 2016.
John was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Parish where he was a founding member of the Saint Anthony Society. Under John's leadership, the society hosted its first annual feast in honor of its Patron Saint which included a parade and celebration for the community. This tradition is ongoing.
John and his wife Marie were married for 62 years prior to her death in 2022. Together John and Marie raised their family on Staten Island until retiring to Monmouth County in 2007.
John is survived by his children, Rosemarie Salomonsen, Jacqueline Cotogno, Elizabeth LoMonaco and Christopher Manginelli, his sons-in-law, Roy Salomonsen, Joe LoMonaco, Anthony DeGennero and his daughters-in-law, Thea Manginelli and Alena Manginelli. John is also survived by his greatest sources of pride, his grandchildren, John Manginelli, Stephanie Libutti, Matthew Salomonsen, Amanda LoMonaco, Andrew Manginelli and Christopher LoMonaco and a great-grandson, Joseph R. Libutti. Also surviving John are his siblings, Joseph Manginelli and Roseanne Cumella. John is predeceased by his wife, Marie A. Manginelli, his son John D. Manginelli and his sister Elizabeth Butta.
John's passion for history was evident in virtually every conversation in which he participated. His vast knowledge of military and world history, politics, movies, music and food and wine were the source of much entertainment and joy for himself and his family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26th from 5-8 pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 11 am at St. Anthony's of Padua Church, 121 Bridge Ave, Red Bank, NJ 07701. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in John's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at T2T.org.
