On Sunday, April 16, 2023, John L. Manna was called home at the age of 93.
Born in Westfield in 1930, John Manna attended Westfield High School. He served with the US Army in Germany during the Korean War and as Sergeant first class with the US Army Intelligence Agency.
John built his first home in Garwood, NJ and it was there that he served as captain of the fire department before moving to Bridgewater in 1966. He was also a member of the Garwood Exempt Fireman's Association. He was an installation manager and service engineer with Diebold, Inc. in Elizabeth before retiring in 1992. John was a member of the local VFW and a volunteer fireman in Martinsville, NJ. John was also a member of the Bridgewater Senior Citizens Center and the Raritan Valley Radio Club where he held an extra class amateur radio license with the call sign 'WA2F'.
John was married to Clara Manna in 1954 until her passing on December 24, 2015. John is survived by his two children, Bridget Stewart and Michael Manna, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., on Tuesday, April 18th from 3pm to 7pm. His funeral will be at Dooley Colonial Home on Wednesday, April 19th at 11am. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
