Pat and the Maples family lived across the street from my family in Hylan Park. As a matter of fact, they built their house in a field where my dad planted watermelons the year before. All the neighborhood children played together. We rode bikes, ran races, skated, and the guys of all ages played baseball in a vacant lot. As an adult, Pat remained a good friend of the neighborhood. He showed great kindness to my mother in her last years, and I will always hold him dear in my heart for those many kindnesses to her. His mom's name was Ruby, and my mom's name was Pearl. Mr. Maples and all the Maples boys called them the "gems" of the neighborhood, and they were. Pat was a genius with plants. One recent year, I saw him plant the trees between Truist Bank and the RR tracks, and I saw him water them every few days all summer long. Today, although still young trees, they stand tall and strong as a testament to his care and attention to all living things. I will always think of them as Pat's trees. -- A childhood neighbor and life-long friend, Beth Preslar McDonald.

So sorry for Pat´s family and friends. What a loss I feel as I know many feel the same. I am so happy for Pat he has made it to his heavenly home. I have been blessed for many years to have Pat enjoy Thanksgiving around our table then spend the afternoon sharing the blessings of the Lord. I will truly miss knowing Pat will be missing but I know he is HOME! May God´s love and peace surround you, Adam and Gail, Joe, James David, Barbara and Harry. Love you all.
