John W Marcoules passed away peacefully Monday evening, October 13th, 2025. He was born in Portland, OR on December 26, 1935 to William and Nota Marcoules. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Catina.
John was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral his entire life, a past president of AHEPA, and active in community affairs in his younger years. He graduated from Washington High School, attended Portland State University, and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1959. He served 21 years of active duty and an additional 21 years in reserves for the Oregon Army National Guard, retiring in 1995 having served his country faithfully and honorably.
John and Bernice A Christie married in 1970, celebrating 55 years of love and happiness this past June. Survivors include his wife, Bernice, two daughters, Christina Marcoules (Paul), and Stephanie Leek (Jeff), and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Markella.
He was a soft spoken, hardworking gentleman who valued his Greek Heritage and family, and will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be sent to the Hellenic-American Cultural Center and Museum (HACCM) at 3131 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97232.
