John Marriott Obituary
June 16, 1938 - January 1, 2026
John F. Marriott Sr., 87, of Wallingford, CT, a man of profound faith and selfless dedication, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, at Hartford Hospital.
John was the devoted husband of Ann Marie (Ludden) Marriott, with whom he shared over 64 years of marriage. In addition to his wife Ann Marie, he is survived by, his children Tricia Marriott of Waterbury, CT, and John F. Marriott Jr. and his fiancée Cheryl Ennen of Ft. Myers, FL; his grandchildren, Jack Marriott III (Alexandra), and Julia Marriott; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Thomas Marriott (Josephine), Alice Gaughan (Thomas), Joseph Marriott Jr. (Marie), and Edward Marriott (Carol).
John was born in Pittston, PA, June 16, 1938, a son of the late Joseph A. and Alice (Conway) Marriott. A lifelong learner and educator, John earned a B.S. Degree from Wilkes University, a Master's Degree from St. Joseph College, his 6th Year Degree from UConn, and lastly, a Juris Doctor concentrated in Educational Law from Western New England College. His professional life was dedicated to the Wallingford Board of Education, where he served for 35 years in various capacities including science teacher, Audio Visual Coordinator, and Vice Principal. John ultimately retired as the Principal of James H. Moran Middle School.
As an active parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church, John contributed his talents as a Lector and by serving on many committees & clubs. He was a member of K of C, Pinta Council #5, and a 4th Degree Knight for Assembly #1858.
John's family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext. on Wednesday, January 7th, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 8th, at 11 a.m., directly at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 139 N. Orchard St., Wallingford. Interment will be private at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to St. Faustina Parish, [82 Akron St., Meriden, CT 06450] for the upkeep of the SS. Peter and Paul Church Rosary Garden in Wallingford. My condolences to the Marriott family. He was my science teacher the first year Moran Jr. High school opened. He was very influential to me not only as a teacher but also in audio visual for the school film projectors and the schools auditorium lighting system. You never forget the people that were influential in your life. RIP Mr. Marriott

Mr Marriott was my science teacher at Moran in 1962. I remember him as a very personable man, willing to help his students with any problems.

I met John at church. He was one of the most devoted devoted Catholics I ever met. God bless this may rest in peace. Will be solely missed at Saint Peter and Paul.

Mr. Marriott was a science teacher of mine at Moran Jr High back in the mid-60s. I wasn't doing so well and he gave me a pep talk which changed my whole attitude and approach. Thank you, Mr. Marriott, as I really appreciated your advice and counsel.

Mr. Marriott was one of my teachers, Moran Jr. High School, early 1960s. He was a good teacher who made the subject interesting. Later, I was happy he became a Principal of the same school. Condolences to his family, friends, former students.
