John James Martin, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Coconut Creek, Florida, at the age of 82.

Born in the Bronx, NY, on July 15, 1942, John led a life marked by resilience, service, humor, and heart. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Private in Heavy Artillery and went on to enjoy a long career as a Telecommunications Engineer. In his final years of employment he worked as a Doorman at The Plaza Hotel in NYC where his gift of connections with people continued to shine.

John was known for his sharp wit, generous spirit, and unmistakable charm. He was a passionate fan of the NY Yankees and the Green Bay Packers, loved singing Irish Songs, tackling home DIY projects, and socializing at many local restaurants- always with a twinkle in his eye and a story to share.

He was known for his "John-isms" including favorites like: "You talked to the committee of me, myself, and I," and "Have a nice day, unless you made other plans."

John's most inspiring legacy may be his strength in overcoming addictions and his deep commitment to helping others find recovery. His honesty, compassion, and unwavering support made a lasting difference for countless lives.

He is survived by his sons, Gerard "Jerry" Martin and John Martin; his grandchildren Sean, Ryan, and Norah Martin, and Nate Chadwick-Martin; his siblings Pat Martin, Peter Martin, and Anne O'Shea; Daughter-In-Laws Amy Chadwick and Stephanie Martin; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

A wake will be held on Friday, July 25th at Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff NJ from 5-8pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 26th at 11:15am at Church of Presentation of Upper Saddle River NJ.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a charity close to John's heart.
