Private family interment for John Martin Jr. 89-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away Tuesday morning at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo will be held by his family in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fort Collins, Colorado at a later date. Donations in John's name may be made to St. Francis Animal Shelter at 109 Flatiron Drive in

John Albert Martin was born on April 27, 1936, in
Rifle, Colorado to John and Anita Martin. He attended grade school in Meeker, Colorado and later attended Golden High School in Golden, Colorado where wrestled for 4 years and was a Golden High Letterman. He graduated from Golden High with the class of 1954. After high school he went to work for Vibrated Concrete Company and later took a job with a pipe wrapping plant in Denver. In 1957 John enrolled at Colorado State University where he attended for two years, studying Mechanical Engineering. He was married on June 15, 1958, in Fort Collins at the Stone Church to Dorothy Drake and they made their home in Fort Collins while John was attending CSU. John later went to work for Woodward Governor Company in Fort Collins where he worked as a Machinist and was eventually promoted to manager. He retired in 1993 and he and Dorothy traveled extensively.
When he was first married, they enjoyed backpacking into the mountains and cross-country skiing, even doing an overnight trip to Chambers Lake before Cameron Pass was paved or kept open in winter. As time went on, they moved into a travel trailer and traveled throughout the United States, and Canada, including three extended trips to Alaska where they thoroughly enjoyed watching Coastal Grizzly bears fish for salmon. Dorothy passed away in January of 2016, and John continued living in LaPorte, Colorado. In 2021 John moved to Buffalo to be near his brother. He was married on December 22, 2023, in Buffalo to his wife's best friend Patricia McCartney and they made their home in Buffalo until his death.
John loved woodworking and was an avid photographer who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the mountains.
He is survived by his wife Pat Martin of Buffalo; two sons, Scott and Mark Martin both of Fort Collins, Colorado; one daughter Christy Martin of LaPorte, Colorado; two brothers, Henry Martin of Victoria, Texas and Jerry Martin of Littleton, Colorado; one sister Merrolynn Burleigh and her husband Dick of Midland, Idaho; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Dorothy.
