John Duke Martin Sr., a cherished patriarch, Army veteran, and a heart of his community, passed away peacefully on the 28th of July, 2025 at the age of 75, in Cynthiana, Kentucky. Born on the 26th of August, 1949 in
Paris, Kentucky, John's embracing spirit and generous heart brightened the lives of all around him throughout his entire life.
John's legacy is beautifully reflected in the love and memories shared by his family. He is survived by his devoted son, John Martin Jr., who will carry on his name and spirit. John Sr. also leaves behind his beloved siblings - five brothers, Jeff, Robert, Larry, Floyde, and Allen Martin, and a caring sister, Delores Bailey. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to Brittany, Cheyenne, Isabelle May, Brightyn, and Madeline Martin, and a doting great-grandfather to Harlee and Raegan Curzio. His impact extends to a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close kin. Preceding him in death were his brothers, Oliver Clay Jr., James Stanley, Ralph Eugene, and beloved son, Brian Clifton. Each of them played a significant role in shaping the man he became.
Retiring from Louisville Forge, John's commitment to excellence was apparent to all who worked alongside him. His dedication to duty was further demonstrated in his service to his country as a proud Army veteran. Beyond his professional life, John was a man of many passions. He cultivated beauty and tranquility through his love of gardening, creating an oasis that mirrored the serenity he found in nature. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom and creating cherished memories. An avid fisherman, John found solace in the quiet ripple of the streams and the thrill of the catch. His friends will remember him for his jovial spirit and the camaraderie they shared.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main Street
Paris, KY by Troy Braunstein. Burial will be in Paris Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Friday, August 1, 2025 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Olden Dockery, Alan Martin, Robert Martin, James Martin, Jeff Martin and Floyde Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Martin, Larry Martin, Ralph Williams and John Bennett.
