John Mathias Obituary
passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025 at his home in Lakeland, Florida. John was
born on February 21, 1945 to Florence Pauline and Norbert Mathias of
Baltimore, Maryland.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Norbert E. (Eddie) Mathias.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Mathias (nee Sheffield) and is
survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
In his younger years, John enjoyed riding motorcycles and family camping trips with
nieces, nephews and friends. John loved boating and fishing for flounder, and loved
his dog "Snowball."
His love for camping brought him to find his current wife, Doreen, in Virginia where
they decided to relocate to Florida to enjoy their later years.
John retired from Baltimore County government; although at a younger age he
worked for Goodwin Brothers Propane and later Pryofax.
John's final resting place will be at Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland.
John will always be remembered as a wonderful man with a great sense of humor and
kind heart.
