John J (Hardway) McCaherty, born in Carrolton, Illinois on June 21, 1940, passed away peacefully at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 14, 2022 surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and siblings. John leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Shelia Irene McCaherty; children: John C. & Adriane McCaherty, Debbie Edington, Terry Mitchell, Kerri Beam, & Ken Johnson: As well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John served in the United States Air Force proudly, and was an avid pool player in the Shreveport area. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, whether camping, a little fishing, playing pool, or just hanging out and enjoying a great meal. He was saved and baptized at FBC Oil City and later became a faithful member of Ferry Lake Baptist Church where he made many friendships and grew in his relationship with the Lord. John was a friend to many and treated everyone like family; he will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at Ferry Lake Baptist Church 10179 Ferry Lake Rd., Oil City La. on February 27, 2022 at 1:30 PM.
