John M. McCann

age 89, of Concord Twp., passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026 - one week after the funeral of his beloved wife of 35 years, Connie McCann. His parents, Martin and Alice McCann, were Irish immigrants from County Mayo and John carried that love of heritage throughout his days. A lifelong Clevelander, John spent many years as an accountant and later enjoyed working in medical sales, a role that played to his gregarious nature. He had an easy smile and joyful spirit. He was a sports enthusiast his whole life and remained active in both racquetball and softball into his 70s. He was inducted into the Cleveland Softball Hall of Fame and won several gold medals at the Senior World Games in Utah. He also loved to travel, be it to the NCAA Final Four with his sons or to Europe for an adventure. Later in life, John joined a barbershop quartet and at his Assisted Living, he would sing solo. The family would like to thank everyone at Vista Springs for their heartfelt embrace of John. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia McCann. He is survived by his three children, Lisa (Michael) Mulholland, Scott (Mary Beth) McCann and Marc (Denise) McCann and eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. His blended family includes Steven (Colleen) Waterwash, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 10:30-12:00 at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave, Willoughby. The service will be held at 12:00pm at the funeral home. John will be laid to rest at Knollwood Cemetery in Mayfield Heights following the service.
