John McConkey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brewer & Sons Funeral Homes - Seven Hills Chapel on Mar. 28, 2023.
John Joseph McConkey (Jack), 64 years old, of Spring Hill Florida passed away at St Joseph's Hospital in Tampa on Monday March 27th following a short battle with cancer. Jack was born in Albany, New York and moved to Florida in the early 1980s. He is predeceased by his father, John Francis McConkey, his mother, Edna Pincher, and his stepfather, George Pincher. He is survived by his devoted wife Lainey Cullen-McConkey, his loving children, John (wife Jennifer and children Loki and Sipherah), Kayli and Philip and his brother Scott Pincher (wife Katie and children Noah, Jacob and Owen).
Jack loved life and enjoyed riding his purple Harley Davidson with his wife, often with their Chihuahua TJ sitting between them in his pouch. He led a full life, serving his country in the United States Air Force before moving into civilian life where he spent many years working in the cable industry. He operated his own company, designing, building and installing home theaters before choosing to work in the low voltage and security field, learning new techniques before starting his own company once more. Sadly this new venture never had the chance to come to fruition as he became ill just after establishing his new LLC.
Another new venture for Jack was moving to the country where he and his wife purchased a ranch, where he was able to enjoy their horses and also keep his hand and eye in with some target practice in the back of the property.
Of course Jack's greatest joy was his children, and he was proud of each of them for their efforts in life. He was thrilled to be able to watch his eldest son, John, marry his beautiful bride under the oak trees on the ranch, and he was so proud of his son Philip when he enlisted in the US Army where he has already risen several ranks and earned commendations for his commitment to duty. His daughter Kayli, of course, was always daddy's little girl, and he loved her unconditionally as she navigates life with her partner, Chris.
Jack was always there for anyone who needed help, whether physical, financial or just emotional support, and he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him, even for just a short while. He was truly a gentleman - and a gentle man - who tried to see the best in everyone and everything. He deeply loved his family, his pets and his life and will never be forgotten.
