John Wesley McIntire, 77, of Fairmont, West Virginia passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Louis A. Johnosn VA Medical Center. He was born on December 19, 1948, in Enterprise, West Virginia, a son of the late James and Bernice (Dillow) McIntire.

John graduated from Shinnston High School. John then served his country in The United States Army and in Vietnam. He later worked for Bell Atlantic and C & P Telephone Company and then retired from Verizon as a lineman. He was an avid sportsman and had a great passion for woodworking and spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Jeff Travis and Chris (Kathleen) Skidmore; one brother, Marvin (Beverly) McIntire; two sisters, Naomi Myers and Marlene (Joe) Maley; and three grandchildren, Anthony, Grayson, and Elsie.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Lillian Begunich, Zelma Adams, Thelma Cochran, Patty Robinette.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:00am at the West Virginia National Cemetery with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating.

Full military rites will be conducted by the United States Army and the Marion County Honor Guard.
