John W. McLean, 82, of Walhalla, ND passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks, ND.
John W. McLean was born January 30, 1943, in Devils Lake, ND to John N. and Marjorie (McArthur) McLean. He grew up on a farm west of Langdon, ND. John attended country school in Moscow Township until his freshman year when he then attended high school at Clyde, ND, and it wasn’t unusual to see him riding his horse to get there. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1961. John served in the North Dakota National Guard and worked for Mayo Construction and Otter Tail Power Company. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at Devils Lake and was also a member of the Walhalla Fire Department.
He is survived by his children: Jamie McLean (Amy Carignan) and Jason McLean all of Langdon, ND and Janelle McLean, Grand Forks, ND, sisters: Lori (Gary) Wirth and Marcia (David) Borden, sister-in-law, Pat McLean along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents John N. and Marjorie and brother, Timothy McLean.
