John Paul McMenamy, 74, of Livonia, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 21, 2023.
He was born on April 20, 1948 to Charles and Virginia McMenamy in Detroit, Michigan. John graduated from Cherry Hill High School and attended Wayne State University. John proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp., serving during the Vietnam War. John retired from Ford after 40 years.
On May 11, 2019 he and Cathy were married at St. Michael Lutheran Church. John McMenamy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grand father, brother and friend. He loved the Lord and spoke to him daily. He always gave thanks to our Father for all his many blessings. John's most precious blessing was his family. His Faith was an inspiration to us all. John also was very fond of a good laugh! We will forever remember the heartwarming stories and pranks he loved to play. Our hearts are broken at the loss of john, our comfort is in our Lord, Jesus Christ and His promise of the resurrection. So with faith and love we say goodbye and good job to Gods faithful servant John Paul McMenamy
Surviving are John's wife, Cathy McMenamy; two Sons, John Paul McMenamy, Danny Owens; two daughters, Michele Hix, Janel Mills; three grandsons, Brandon Hix, Ryan Owens, Cody McMenamy; five granddaughters, Emily Hix, Lizzy McMenamy, Phaedra Mills, Bella Mills, Surrey Mills; great-granddaughter, Lily Owens; great-grandson, Jacob Owens;. four brothers, Charlie McMenamy, Joe McMenamy, George McMenamy, Bill McMenamy; five sisters, Ronnie McMenamy-Martin, Dodie Lapointe, Mary McMenamy, Carol Martel, Verge Collins; his sisters-in-law, Brenda Shrewsbury and Tammy Penberthy; brother-in-law, Russ (Chris) Penberthy; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Virginia; his first wife, Patricia McMenamy.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Michael Lutheran Church,3003 Hannon Rd., Wayne, MI 48184. His family will greet relatives and friends Saturday from 10AM until the time of service at Church. Memorials contributions in memory of John may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. God uncle John, I didn´t know you passed away, man. Virginia is my mom´s name. Everyone calls her verge God I thought about you every single day. I remember breaking my ankle in your front yard having a jumping competition with all my cousins wow love you, man rest in peace up there tell grandma and grandpa my mom I love him and I miss him.

John was one of my best friends as a kid my family left michigan in 1963 we shook hands then we moved to california i will never get to talk with john about the times we had i wonder if charly and joe remember our family there was carol vergi wish i could talk to him one more time
