John Joseph McPherson, age 84, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Tecumseh Place Assisted Living. He was born on March 22, 1941, in Southfield, Michigan, to Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Rider) McPherson.

John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a former employee of Ford's in Ypsilanti. He had a passion for working on cars and golf carts for his friends and neighbors, and he dedicated his time to coaching youth baseball. An avid bowler and golfer, he enjoyed playing in various leagues and often golfed at Centerview Golf Course in Adrian. John was also a devoted fan of Lions football and Tigers baseball.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janette Ann Lawrence, whom he married on August 30, 1963, in Ypsilanti. He also leaves behind his son, John (Nina Lewis) McPherson of Summerville, South Carolina; his daughter, Jane (Gerald) Tyler of Tecumseh; and his grandchildren, Monica (Eric Waddell) McPherson, Amanda (Kyle) Ewers, Heather (Devon) Delcourt, and Nicholas (Hannah Harwood) Dillon. John was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Eli, Caiden, Jaylen, Emma, Aubree, Hudson, Tallulah, Lincoln, Bella, and Paxton; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Elizabeth McPherson; and his siblings, Patrick, Charles, Michael, Mary, and Joan.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Agape Care of South Carolina or Hospice of Lenawee. Arrangements were handled by Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea.
