John C. Meyer Sr. of Bloomingburg, N.Y. and a former longtime resident of Rockland County, NY, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, NY. He was 88.

The son of the late John and Cecelia Meyer, he was born on September 4, 1937, in Pomona, NY.

John was a Street Inspector for many years in the Town of Ramapo in Rockland County, NY. He was a 69-year member and past chief and former Trustee of the Hillcrest Fire Department in Rockland County. At the time of his passing, John was the oldest living former chief the department.

He was the widower of Carolyn Meyer.

Survivors include his daughter Cecelia DeGroat (Trace) of Roscoe, NY.; his son John C. Meyer Jr. (Veronica) of Bloomingburg, NY. and his daughter Lisa Conklin (David) of Bloomingburg. His grandchildren John C. Meyer III (Cyndi), Nicole Brophy (Sean), Brittany Meyer (Greg). His great-grandchildren Austin Meyer, Taylor Meyer, Devon Meyer, Aiden Brophy, Adelyn Brophy, Tyler Meyer and John "Buck" Meyer IV. He is also survived by his great-great grandchildren Kylie Meyer, Riley Meyer and Hudson Meyer. His brother-in-law Wilfred Call and his sisters-in-laws Gladys Parker and Linda Deligny and his many nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 4-7 P.M. with a firematic service at 6:30 P.M. at the Martinez Morse Funeral Home 33 Railroad Avenue Middletown, New York. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11 AM at the Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Wallkill Cemetery Phillipsburg, NY. Arrangements by Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home www.ocfuneralhomes.com or #845-343-6023.
