John Mason Mings IV---scholar, sage, soothsayer, and raconteur---was a fine and honorable man and a good friend. He never failed to amuse, amaze, and educate me.
At John's passing, I am reminded of an old African saying: "When an Elder dies, a library burns to the ground."
Farewell, old friend. We will meet again one day on that distant shore, and may the Good Lord Bless and Keep You.
