Vernuse "Vern" Mings, 86, passed away December 30, 2024 at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville.
He was born Monday, May 8, 1938 to the late Otha and Lucinda (Holt) Mings in Hendricks County, Indiana. On December 4, 1959, he married his wife, Meredith Ann (Walker) Mings who passed away October 18, 2018.
Vern had 23 years of truck driving experience driving for Roadway Express, Underwood Trucking, and Northside Trucking. He loved fishing, bowling, golf, and pool. He especially enjoyed the slot machines at the casino. Vern was a man of many talents having learned to play guitar left handed at the age of 70. Previously a member of Willow Grove Nazarene Church, Vern most recently was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church of Wilbur, Indiana.
Vern is survived by his kids, Ricky Mings (Beth), Cindy Roy (Buddy); grandkids, Crystal Mings-Letness (Ronnie), Clarissa Mings, Michael John Faith (Katy), Kendall Roy, III (Sara), India Roy, Cassie Bonner, Andrew Mings.
Preceding him in death are his wife Meredith; parents, Otha and Lucinda; son, Randy Mings (Valerie); great grandson, DeAcon Ford.
Services have been postponed to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Costin Funeral Chapel. Visitation is two hours prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Vern will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall.
