Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Richard Allen Carter, 64 years old, a resident of Avon, Indiana, entered eternal rest with loved ones by his side on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. Richard was born on Thursday, February 16, 1961, to the late David Allen Carter and Harriet (Hacker) Carter at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Indiana.

He was a Martinsville High School graduate with the class of 1979, continuing his education at Indiana Central College in Indianapolis where he received his bachelor's degree in accounting and an associate's degree in computer science. Richard was a dedicated employee of Accenture, based out of Carmel, Indiana, working in logistics.

Richard was a dedicated family man and worked hard to provide well for his family. He enjoyed sports and supporting his children in travel ball, as well as family beach vacations.

He leaves behind his loving family including his wife of nearly thirty-six years, Yvette (Holding) Carter of Avon, Indiana; whom he married on September 16, 1989; his children, including son, Ross Carter and wife, Connor, of Plainfield, Indiana; two daughters, Morgan Campbell and husband, Christian, and Monica Childers and husband, Dylan, both of Avon, Indiana; brother, Robert Carter and wife, Amy, of Monrovia, Indiana; sister, Pamela Johnson and husband, Greg, of Mooresville, Indiana; and his grandchildren, Raylee, Ella, Rowan, Colt, Adalynn and Rhodes.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 12:00-2:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. A service celebrating Richard's life will begin at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, immediately following the visitation at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Liberty Cemetery in Martinsville, Indiana.

Online condolences and memories may be shared with his family at www.nealandsummers.com.

Earlier today

Richard was a good man. We lived together at Dailey Hall and roomed together for a bit after college. I have many great memories of our friendship including the infamous "railroad crossing" incident on Hanna Avenue. May the peace of Christ be with his family and may God keep him.
