I hitchhiked with John through France -we were both bilingual Stanford students at school in Tours.

John was my good friend from Stanford and beloved member of Stanford-in-France group XXVII. We lived together and traveled together in the 1970s, and were never out of touch since then. In recent years we zoomed regularly with other college friends. I only just found out, in May, about his passing. I miss him dearly.

Quiet and reserved on the exterior, John roared from within. He will be remembered for his wit and wisdom. His knowledge of our history was on display. What a great story teller. I am sure John is spinning yarn from above.
Farewell my brother.
God speed.

On visits to Philadelphia from England I was glad to have spent time with him on two separate occasions. He held court while I held my breath. A true American gentleman. May he rest in the heavenly peace that is wished upon him by all who shared time in is company.

John was an amazing man, an incredible tour guide, & speaker, and an inspiration to our brotherhood. His spirit, and love for the craft will be very much missed.

One of the greatest men I have ever known. He lived in our South Philly neighborhood until a few years ago. We had dinner and drinks with him weekly. Our fraternity will not be the same. Farewell Brother

I knew John at Middlesex. We were the two in our class who already spoke French. I remember him as a calm friend. His comfort with himself at 14 and 15 helped me feel OK. Thank you John, and best wishes to all who knew him.
