John Byron Moore, Jr., (1946-2025) passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, while holding his wife's hand in his home in Greenville, SC.
John was born on October 1, 1946, in Albertville, AL, to John and Othell Moore. He grew up in Ringgold, GA. After a period of service as a medic in the Air Force, he graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Business Administration.
He was known for his thirst for learning, sense of humor, and love of family and service. He was a renowned Investment Banker and Securities Analyst. After retirement he mentored through SCORE, built houses with Habitat for Humanity, was active in Kiwanis and Rotary, and in his community. He traveled extensively, visiting all seven continents and all fifty states. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing multiple times a week for many years. More than anything else, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Faye "Jimi" Bornstein Moore; his three children, Jason (Lori), Elise Warshavsky (Ori), and Daniel (Leslie Brody); and his seven grandchildren (Alma, Oliver, Lior, Adam, Rolland, Arad, and Joni). He is also remembered by his siblings, Charles, Virginia, and David Moore.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Congregation Beth Israel in Greenville, SC, where John was a member, took classes, and continued his lifelong love of learning at https://www.bethisraelsc.org/payment.php.
