The family of Mr. John James Moore gratefully acknowledges all expressions of sympathy shown during their time of bereavement and loss. May God continue to bless each of you.

Mr. John James Moore, age seventy-one, departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Durham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Durham, North Carolina. He was born in Person County July 2, 1954 to the late James Henry and Mary Moore and formerly worked in Custodial Maintenance at UNC-Chapel Hill.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Anthony James Moore.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Mary Moore of the home; children: Casey Moore (Robin) of Chapel Hill, Paige Scoggins of Roxboro, North Carolina, Antonio Moore (friend, Kristin) and Michelle Elliott (Jermaine), both of Chapel Hill and Jeanitta Moore (friend, Siarra) of Durham, North Carolina; grandchildren: Aaliyah Moore of Chapel Hill, Greyson Scoggins of Roxboro, Robert Haynie, III of Raleigh and Jermaine Elliott, Amare Elliott, Jayshaun Elliott and Jazzmine Elliott, all of Chapel Hill and Jordan Scoggins of Roxboro; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Geraldine Paylor of Roxboro, Rosa White of Durham, Sallie Oliver and Dorothy Moore Downey (Stanley), both of Roxboro; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 2:00pm at Cunningham & Associates Funeral Services with Elder Tony B. Dixon of the Holy Temple of Jesus Christ in Timberlake, North Carolina, providing the eulogy and President Ben Lee, officiating. Visitation will also be Thursday at the funeral home from 1:00pm to 2:00pm when his body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.

At other times, the family will receive visitors at his home, 306 Estes Drive, Extension B-19 in Carrboro, North Carolina 27510.
