John Henry Morgan, age 79, of Vonore, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 19, 2026. He was a Vietnam Army veteran and beloved family man who enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardner that relished in sharing his love and knowledge with his family and many friends. He proudly gained the name "Papaw" by the Vonore community through his six decades serving as a coach, supporter, transporter, and mentor with various school and sporting activities. He believed in hard work, honesty, loyalty, and helping others. He was quick with a joke and a laugh. He was a great father to his six children and served as a surrogate father-figure for many others. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Julie Morgan, brother Glenn Morgan, sister Mary West, and grandson Ryan Michael Singleton.
Survivors-Wife: Eula Morgan; Son: Jeff (Teresa) Singleton; Daughter: Debra (Frank) Denton; Son: Frog (Kelly) Singleton; Daughter: Donna (Ted) Tallent; Son: Steven (Martha) Morgan; Daughter: Doris (Ronnie) Qualls; Sister: Joyce Williams, Sister: Mable Branson; Brother: George Morgan; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and many special nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral 7:00 P.M. Thursday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Jeremy Hayes officiating. Interment 11:00 A.M. Friday, Big Toqua Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and Loudon County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Christopher Singleton, Anthony Singleton, David Singleton, Andrew Denton, Christian Singleton, Jobe Griffitts and Dakota Morgan. The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Thursday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
