John Robert Morrison passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday July 22, 2025. John is survived by his wife Mildred; sons Michael and Geoff; daughter Marcella; grandchildren Chasity Monette, Michael Morrison Jr. Geoffrey JA Morrison, Samatha Morrison, Kaitlyn Morrison, John Pimental, Paul Pimental and Lauren Pimental, great-grandchildren Pehrnel Monette, Peyton Monette, Preston Monette, Lucy Morrison and Elenor Morrison
brother Melvin, Freddy; sisters Carol, Tina and other loving relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents Lonnie and Elizabeth Morrison, brother Leanord and sister Krissie. John had a Physics degree and MBA from Harvard University. John was an inventor; inventing the first mass storage tape backup system for IBM and is known as the grandfather of Magnetic Media. John was a great father of three and loving grandfather to 8 grand kids and 5 great-grand kids. A funeral service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 5218 Bartlett Blvd, Mound, Saturday August 2, 2025. 10 am viewing followed by a service at 11 am.
