First Sergeant John Marshall Moseley, 76, of Zolfo Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family.

John was born on September 19, 1949, in Wauchula, Florida, to the late John E. "Pete" Moseley and Louise Moseley. He was a man who deeply loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, barrel racing, and spending time with his family. John was known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and willingness to help others. He spent 32 years working for C. Elton Crews of Avon Park, Florida, where he was respected for his dedication, reliability, and integrity. He also enjoyed helping people with their real estate ventures. Above all, he was faithful in his Christian walk and lived his life with integrity and purpose.

John honorably served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, retiring with the rank of First Sergeant after 23 years of service in the Florida National Guard. During his military career, he was awarded medals for saving lives while deployed in Panama. His service was marked by courage, leadership, and unwavering dedication to his country and fellow soldiers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Faye Carolyn Moseley; his children, Carlene Spiker, Tony Alvarez (Vicki), and Carman Cochran (Jack); his grandchildren, Shannen Ayers (Amy), Mikey Colding (Mandy), Justin Spiker (Kassie), Shasta Reese (Stephen), Branden Levi Spiker (Tara), Jared Cochran, Cody Alvarez (Leah), and Eli Moseley; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jack Moseley (Kathy); his sister, Edwina Cumbee (Lamar); one niece, Markell Moseley, and one nephew, Jordan Moseley.

John was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kimberly Colding, and his parents, John E. "Pete" Moseley and Louise Moseley.

I was sad to hear of John's passing this past Sunday. My prayers and sympathy go out to the entire family.

I have fond memories of John and his brother Jack when we were boys playing Little League Baseball in the early days of the Hardee County Little league around 1960-61.

In those days my brother, Frank and I had a great time competing against John and his brother Jack in these summer baseball games. We knew that we had to play our best as very few batters were able to get on base, much less get hits when John was pitching.

John was certainly one of the best pitchers in the league in the two years that we had the privilege of playing against him.

If I'm remembering accurately, these were the first two years of Little League Baseball in Hardee County, either ever, or after a period of time without any Little League play.

Either way, the league didn't have an end of the season League Allstar Team to play against other Allstar teams across the state of Florida as the league hadn't existed enough years. John certainly would have been on this type of team.

I know that John will be missed, but the fine person that he was will remain with us all of our lives.

With kind regards,

Jim L. Zajicek
