John "Jack" Edward Munsey passed away November 25, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri. He was born April 10, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri to Edward and Betty Munsey.
Jack was married on October 4, 1969, to Kathryn (Kathy) Burke in Huntington, West Virginia, and together they share two sons, Chad (Ginger) and Jim, and one grandson, Edward Jackson Munsey. Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Jim.
Jack attended Parkview High School and graduated in the class of 1963. He was also a graduate of the University of Missouri Rolla with a degree in Metallurgy and a graduate of Purdue University's Lafayette School of Business with a Master's degree in Industrial Management. He was active in the Sigma Nu fraternity.
After college, Jack worked in the aerospace industry as an engineer on projects like the B1 bomber and the TF 39 Turbofan jet engine. After that, Jack moved from Cincinnati, Ohio to Springfield, Missouri and began his career in the insurance business, retiring from Ollis & Company in 2015.
Jack was involved with several civic organizations throughout his life, including Downtown Rotary, the Visiting Nurses Association Board, Sigma Nu fraternity Alumni Association, and the Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Jack primarily spent his time with the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Mosque. Jack is the past director of the Director staff, Director of ROJ and Past Potentate (2005) of the Shrine. Jack was also very active at Christ Episcopal Church where he served for many decades as an usher.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Greenlawn East Funeral Home, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, Missouri 65809. The funeral service will be Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., at Christ Episcopal Church, 601 E. Walnut St, Springfield, Missouri 65806. Interment will immediately follow at Hazelwood Cemetery.
