John Thomas Murphy III

John Thomas Murphy, III, born November 4, 1948, passed Tuesday, August 13th peacefully at Norwalk Hospital with his son Christopher by his side.
John was the son of the late Josephine Murphy Cooke and John Thomas Murphy of Stamford. He attended Stamford schools and Pasadena City College, CA. John was a "Jack of all trades" and was property manager for several Stamford and New York Properties. He also ran an online AA and NA support group which helped many.
John was always a fighter and battled the last two years with lung cancer. He was courageous to the end.
John is survived by his son, Christopher of Norwalk, his ex-wife and friend Patty, his brother Ricky of Norwalk, his sister Michelle of California, his daughter-in-law Niki Murphy, three grandchildren, BreeAnn, Zachary and Andrew, and his faithful fur baby, Ethyl. He is also survived by his Aunt Julia Infante, many cousins, and a niece and nephew He was predeceased by his son Shawn Stephen Murphy of Norwalk, and his brother Bobby Murphy.
The family wants to thank the owners, staff, and members of Kingsway Senior Housing, Craig Schoop, especially Bill and Frankie for their loving care of John and Ethyl.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 23, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Collins Funeral home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A graveside service will follow at 11:45 AM at St. John Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien, CT.
