Jerry Arnette Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Collins Funeral Home - Norwalk on Jan. 25, 2026.
Jerry Arnette, 75, of Shelton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 22nd at CT Hospice,
surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.
Born on September 8, 1950, in Dillon, South Carolina, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Lloyd and Irene Arnette. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Norwalk, Connecticut-a place that would remain central throughout his life. It was where he grew up, raised his own family, and created countless lasting memories. In his later years, Jerry settled in Shelton, a community he came to love
and proudly call home.
Jerry was above all a devoted husband, father, and family man. He lived with quiet strength, genuine kindness, and an unwavering work ethic. For 30 years, he served the Town Highway Department in Weston, Connecticut, ultimately as a lead foreman-a role he held with great pride. Known for his dependability, steady leadership, and readiness to help anyone in need, Jerry earned the deeper respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike.
Beyond his work, Jerry had a lifelong passion for classic cars. Whether it was the roar of an engine, a freshly polished chrome bumper, or the stories behind each vehicle, he loved it all. He spent many happy days at car shows, talking shop with friends, and caring for the classic cars he owned over the years. His enthusiasm was something he loved sharing with family and friends.
Jerry also enjoyed being outdoors, tending to his yard, and caring for his goats and chickens. Anyone who knew him knew that if a blade of grass was out of place, Jerry would find it-and fix it. His pride in keeping things "just right" was a trait that brought many smiles and will be fondly remembered. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Wendy, the love of his life and his lifelong partner. He is also survived by his sister, Robin (Joe) Carriera of Conway, South Carolina, and his brother, Roger (Donna) Arnette of Norwalk.
He was a devoted father to his three sons: Lloyd (Delmis) Arnette of Bridgeport; Jerry Arnette (Kimberly Prada) of Norwalk; and Travis (Kimberly) Arnette of Shelton. Jerry took tremendous joy in being a grandfather to Tia, Olivia, Deacon, Josie, Taylor, Travis Jr., Dylan, and Sayde, all of whom he adored. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who held a special place in his
heart.
Jerry was predeceased by his brother, Larry Arnette.
We will have a memorial service on Saturday, February 7, from 2 to 4 pm at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851.
Jerry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his kindness, devotion, sense of humor, and the way he made others feel simply by being himself.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Connecticut Hospice or the American Lung Association in honor of Jerry Arnette.
