I just found out about John´s passing this this morning (February 9) before I attended Mass at St. Edwards. John and I became best friends in 8th grade at St. Ed´s and were close during high school. I was honored to be best man at John & Chris´s wedding. But then college, the Army, marriage, etc. drifted our paths apart. And I am sad to say it has been at least 20 years since we last spoke. I drove by John´s old house on Kildare after Mass and was overwhelmed with fond memories of John and his wonderful parents and family. I´m very sorry that I never got to say goodbye to my old friend and thank him for his friendship and support during some of my troubled adolescent years.
