John J. Nave Sr., 73, of Latrobe, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Greene Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born January 10, 1951 in Greensburg, he was a son of Estella (Show) Nedley of Hannastown and the late Vernon Nave.
John was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish. He was formerly employed at Lenox Crystal, Mt. Pleasant and World Kitchens, Charleroi. A Vietnam war veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy. John was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and raising chickens. He loved being with family and annual trips to the beach, especially Ocean City, MD.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Nave; and his step-mother, Maria Nave.
John is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Susan J. (Bolish) Nave of Latrobe; one daughter, Kelly Henderson, and her husband Thomas, of Latrobe; one son, John J. Nave Jr. of Blairsville; one brother, Gerard Nave, and his wife Dustin, of Crabtree; two sisters, Pearl Stillwell of Greensburg, and Roxanne Nave of Crabtree; four grandchildren, Brittany (Patrick), Emilee, John, and Jaxson; and three great-grandchildren, Ella, Eva, and Eliza.
Family and friends will be received from 1 to 4 pm Friday at the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. Military honors will be conducted at 3:30 PM Friday in the funeral home by the Latrobe Derry Veterans Honor Guard. A funeral liturgy will be held at 4 pm Friday in the funeral home. Interment is private.
