John Nelson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A Natural State Funeral Service & Crematory on Feb. 24, 2026.
February 24, 2026

John Alan Nelson, born April 20, 1960, in Liverpool Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026. He was the beloved son of Nancy Nelson and the late Conrad Nelson.

From an early age, John was known for his strong work ethic and gentle spirit. As a young boy, he loved helping his grandfather, Nordy Nelson, on the family farm - experiences that helped shape the hardworking man he became. His dedication and commitment to excellence were recognized when he was named Employee of the Year at Stone Container Corporation in the 1980's, an honor that reflected his reliability and pride in his work.

John was a proud member of the Lonoke High School Class of 1978, where he excelled as a track star. Whether on the track, at work, or at home, John gave his very best.

Above all, John will be remembered for his kindness. Ever since he was a young boy, he was known as one of the nicest people you could meet. He was a loving brother. When the family moved to Delaware, John made sure his younger siblings had new ball gloves - a small but unforgettable act that perfectly captured his generous heart. He was a great brother to Renae and Mike, setting an example of strength and kindness.

John was preceded in death by his father, Conrad Nelson, and his brother, Randy "Goob" Nelson.

He is survived by his loving mother, Nancy Nelson; his brother, Mike Nelson (Heather and Marina); his sister, Renae Nelson; his son, Kevin Childers; his granddaughter, Kylie Childers, and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

John's legacy of kindness, hard work, and quiet strength will live on in all who knew and loved him.

The family will gather for a graveside service on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00pm at Brownsville Cemetery located on Hwy 31 N in Lonoke, Arkansas.
