It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our brother, John Bruce Neubauer, who died peacefully under hospice care at Sanford Health-Broadway in Fargo, ND, on September 4, 2025, at the age of 77. A funeral service to honor John's life will be held at St. James UCC, Barnesville, MN, on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor John Werner presiding. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
Born on June 19, 1948, to Donald and Margaret (Hough) Neubauer, John grew up in Barnesville, Minnesota, where he graduated from Barnesville High School in 1966. He went on to complete the Electronics program at Moorhead Area Vocational Technical Institute in 1968, after which he moved to the Twin Cities to begin his professional journey.
In 1969, John answered the call to serve his country and was deployed to Vietnam as a member of the First Air Cavalry. He served as Acting Section Chief and Radio Operator for an artillery unit, earning the Bronze Star for Meritorious Actions During Combat—a testament to his courage and dedication.
John’s career was both long and varied, with roles at National Heater, Electric Steel Casting, Prospect Foundry, and Flour City Brush. In the early 2000s, he relocated to Glyndon, Minnesota, where he worked for the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton school district until his retirement.
A proud life member of VFW Post 4628 in Barnesville, John found joy in simple pleasures—movies, music, and model trains—and cherished monthly gatherings with his siblings.
He is survived by his sisters Carol, Denise, and Judy; brothers LeRoy and Arnold; as well as several nephews, a niece, and many grandnephews and grandnieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Donna (Neubauer) Johnson; and brothers-in-law Robert Johnson and Richard Lass Jr.
John will be remembered for his quiet strength, his service, and the love he shared with family and friends.
