John B. Newman Jr.

JOHN B. NEWMAN, JR., AGE 53
And a resident of Ponchatoula passed away Monday afternoon October 28, 2024. He was a former longtime resident of Washington Parish. John was currently working for Acadian Cypress and Hardwoods in Ponchatoula but had spent much of his life working on dairy farms around Franklinton. He worked over 10 years for the Steven Branch Dairy in the Pine Community and during that time became a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church located nearby. John was always a hard worker and had a heart of gold, willing to help anyone in need. He often provided mechanic work on people's cars. John enjoyed fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He liked to tell jokes and play pranks and tricks on his friends and family. John was a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan and he will be sadly missed by those that knew him well.

He was preceded in death by his parents John B. Newman, Sr. and Vera Jane Evans Newman, step-father John Paul Tarver, Sr. and his grandparents.
Visitation will be at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church (28039 Luke Pace Road, Angie, LA) on Saturday November 2nd from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 1:00 pm with Bro. Brad Cooper and Steven Branch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
