John L. Nievinski, 64, of Elderon, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at ThedaCare, Shawano.
John was born on July 31, 1959, in Wausau, the son of Leonard and Marie (Tomson) Nievinski.
In 1980, John was united in marriage to Ruth Van Gordon in Wausau. They later divorced.
John worked at Marathon Electric as an operator for 45 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the cottage as well as tending to his garden and was widely known for his pickles and jerky he made. One thing John was always proud of was singing the National Anthem at local baseball games for many years. As you know, John also enjoyed having an occasional beer with friends.
John is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Robin) Lenox and Madonna Strong; grandchildren, David, Seth, Hayleigh, Emerson, Mariah and Autumn; great-grandchildren, Mya and Grason; siblings, Laurel Briggs, Jim (friend, Lori) Nievinski, Lynn (Greg) Hartleben, Karen (friend, Gerald) Hnatt, Joe (Faye) Nievinski, Jeff (Nikki) Nievinski and Kathy (friend, David) Olapojoye; special friend, Barb Gorn, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents and former wife.
A Funeral Service will be held at 6 PM, on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Sister Mary Ellen Diermeier will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday, from 3 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
