Peter Anthony Nievinski, 64, of Mosinee, died Friday, March 13th, 2026.

He was born on October 7th, 1961, the son of Theodore and Alice (Pliskie) Nievinski in Wausau, Wisconsin. He married Laura Nievinski (Bush) on March 15th, 1980. They have two daughters, Jessica (Nievinski) Berent and Jenna (Nievinski) Richardson.

Pete was raised with his brothers and sisters in Mosinee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Mosinee High School in 1979. After graduation, he joined the United States Army. After serving four years in the military, Pete and Laura moved back to Mosinee to raise their family. Pete worked for over thirty years at the Marathon County courthouse in the Finance Department. He was the President of the Mosinee Softball Association for over twenty years and helped organize the very popular Mosinee Class Reunion Softball Tournament. Pete was also a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association official for football, baseball, and softball for over twenty years. He retired from his job in the Marathon County finance department in 2019.

Pete participated in the Mosinee city government, being elected several times as an alderman on the city council and, most recently, as the Mayor of Mosinee. Pete was an active member of the Mosinee Area Action Club, serving as the treasurer.

Pete was an extremely active person and found immense joy in helping others. He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Mosinee community member, who took personal pride in working hard and doing things the right way. He enjoyed various sports, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a special bond with his beautiful Great Pyrenees dog, Ghost, who was rescued in 2019. A fun fact about Pete is that he was an extra in the movie Stripes, starring John Candy and Bill Murray, while he was in basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Pete is survived by his wife, Laura (Bush) Nievinski, his daughters Jessica (Andrew) Berent, Jenna (Gorman) Richardson. His two grandchildren, Abigail Berent and Duke Richardson. His sisters, Paula (Mike) Howie, Carla (Don) Kluz, his brothers, Pat Nievinski, Paul Nievinski, and Perry Nievinski, and his brother-in-law, Clay (Tonya) Bush.

Pete was blessed to have a great circle of friends throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore (Ted) and Alice Nievinski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. Father Aaron Becker will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026. Visitation will be held again from 9:00 am until the time of services all at the church.
