Sharon K. (Saxby) Willfahrt, 59, Mosinee, passed away unexpectedly with her husband by her side at their home on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
Sharon was born on June 23, 1966, daughter of Norman and Joyce (Oestreich) Saxby. She married Eugene Willfahrt on June 2, 2018, he survives.
After graduating from Merrill High School, Sharon went further in her education and graduated with an Associates degree in Nursing from Northcentral Technical College in Wausau. Sharon RN RAC-CT, started working as a long-term care nurse for the first part of her career. She later transitioned into nursing management, most recently as an MDS Coordinator and Infection Control Manager. Her caringness, bright heart, and kind soul were felt by every resident she interacted with.
Sharon enjoyed gardening, baking Christmas cookies and candy, playing games like canasta and cribbage, and doing puzzles. At night you could often find her reading a book next to a variety of candles. She loved crocheting and often gifted family and friends blankets that were made with love. Being a grandma is what Sharon was most passionate about. Watching her grandkids play on the slide, pushing them on the swing, and seeing them run around the yard is what brought her joy.
Besides her husband Eugene, Sharon is survived by her children, Josh (Tia) Daley, and Niki (Troy) Knight; Stepchildren, Kraig (Lisa) Willfahrt, Jackie (Mark) Willfahrt, Kandie (Scott) Schmidt; Grandchildren, Elijah, Delilah, Sawyer, Kaitlin, Ashley, Christian, Savannah, Draven, Rhianna, August, and Bennett. Sharon is further survived by her mother Joyce (Roy) Saxby; sister Deb Saxby; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sharon was preceded in death by her father Norman Saxby; Sister-in-law Julie Willfahrt; and Brothers-in-law Mark Willfahrt and Denny Willfahrt.
The memorial service for Sharon will be held at 12 pm Saturday March 21, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau. Rev. Christopher S. Johnson will officiate. Burial will take place at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9am Saturday at the church until time of service.
