John V. "Jack" Niles, age 95, of Appleton, WI passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026 in Appleton, WI.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton, WI. Rev. Bill Switchenberg will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial rites will take place following the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Oshkosh, WI.
Jack was born on August 9, 1930 in Appleton, WI to the late Vincent and Lillian Niles. He married Barbara Wuest on October 5, 1963 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Oshkosh, WI. After graduating from Appleton High School in 1949 Jack served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War era until his discharge in 1953. Following his time in the military he attended the University of Wisconsin -Madison before beginning his career at Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. in the marketing department. Jack's Catholic faith was important to him. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic church in Appleton, WI and St. James the Greater Catholic Church while living in Eau Claire, WI. Jack was always active in his community. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Appleton VFW Post #4955, and men's golf leagues at Lake Hallie and Chaska Golf Courses. In his spare time, Jack loved watching the Green Bay Packers and traveling with his wife, Barbara. They frequented the Caribbean and took trips to Europe and many other places. Jack was easy going in nature and was well liked by everyone. He was fortunate to have made many life long friends that he cherished throughout his life.
Jack is survived by his children, Patrick (Kris) Niles and Katie (Paul) Schneider; grandchildren, Dr. Jaclyn Schneider and Dominic Schneider (Anna Radtke); brother and sister-in-law, Glen (Barbara) Wuest, and Carol Innis; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Niles; parents, Vincent and Lillian Niles; brothers, Roger (Lois) Niles, and Jerry (Delores) Niles; sister, Patricia Miller; and brother-in-law, Joe Innis,
