John E. Nocella, of Stoneham, formerly of Brighton, passed away on Saturday October 4th, 2025. He was 79 years of age.
John graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Sociology before pursing a career in sales, ranging from pharmaceuticals to trade shows until his retirement in 2010.
As a young adult, John enjoyed playing sports with his friends from Brighton who all held a special place in his heart. They remained lifelong friends and met in person annually at the Stockyard.
In 1975, John met his wife Jo-Ann and they were married for 48 years, raising one daughter together. His family brought him much happiness and fulfillment, but nothing renewed his energy more than becoming a Papa.
John was a dedicated member of the Appian Club in Stoneham for over 40 years, serving in multiple officer roles including president and most recently secretary. He enjoyed many years of producing the monthly newsletter and his involvement with the Italian classes, student scholarships, and countless formal and informal dinners. -Non Nobis Solumn
John was an avid Boston sports fan, often sporting a Patriots sweatshirt and, in recent years, making his green Celtics baseball cap a standard fixture of his wardrobe. His daughter and grandchildren share his love of sports.
John is the beloved husband of the late Jo-Ann (Miccichi) Nocella. He is the devoted father of Christine Holbrook and her husband Jeff. John is the loving grandfather of Lily and Marcus. He is the dear brother of Richard Nocella and his wife Phyllis and the late Joanne (Nocella) Berson and her late husband Morris. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
