John J. Nohavicka, 82, of West Newton, died Monday, March 16, 2026, at Mt. Macrina Manor, Uniontown. He was born May 7, 1943, son of the late John and Mary (Romonosky) Nohavicka. John was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Army. He was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, West Newton and its Holy Name Society; VFW Post 7812 of West Newton, and the former Yukon Croatian Lodge. John greatly enjoyed his grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters, Jill Slepsky and Beth Lengvarsky and husband, Michael; three grandchildren, Delaney Slepsky, and Liam Lengvarsky and Mia Lengvarsky; niece, Pam Moot and husband, William; and a sister-in-law, Debra Rager. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Michaelene (Seliy) Nohavicka; sister, Dolores Gaidosh; and nephew Thomas Gaidosh, Jr. Friends will be received 2-8 pm Friday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine St., West Newton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday in Holy Family Church, West Newton. Burial will be in West Newton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 225 N 2nd St., West Newton PA 15089. Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com.
