Lee Donald Sterner

Lee Donald Sterner, 75 of Woodstock, Virginia, died Friday March 13, 2026 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia, surrounded by family. Lee was born September 14, 1950 in Westmoreland County. He was the son of the late James and Hazel (Martin) Sterner of Wyano. Lee was a football coach for 25 years and served as a principal and school administrator in Shenandoah County Public Schools in Virginia where he retired. In retirement, he served on the Board of Laurel Ridge (formerly Lord Fairfax) Community College in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Lee enjoyed boating, refinishing furniture, following sports, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Deborah (Balko) Sterner; his daughter Marcy Gineris; and his brothers James and Richard Sterner. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Sterner and spouse Ashley Mullins of Christiansburg, Virginia.; son-in-law Jeff Gineris of Woodstock; two grandchildren, Kathrine (Gineris) Hullihen and Connor Lee Gineris of Woodstock; a sister, Nancy Paul of Greensburg; two great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends will be received starting at 10:30-11:30 am Saturday, March 21, 2026, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 am, at the J. William McCauley Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine St., West Newton.
