It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Stefan Novel, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who departed this life on February 16, 2025, at the age of 74, after a steady decline of his health.
He was born on December 2, 1950, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Anna Stefan.
After obtaining his GED, he attended Job Corps, where he became a craftsman in carpentry, electrical work, and heating and cooling systems. John was a maintenance technician whose skills spanned various industries including Mighty Fine Donuts, Holiday Inn, as well as Stan’s Dinette, where he met his wife.
John enjoyed fishing, movies, music, and Legend of Zelda.
In addition, John was a kind soul who devoted his time as a volunteer at the Community of Caring Food Pantry. He had a commitment to serving those in need and a belief in the importance of lending a helping hand. John’s generosity and spirit of giving will be cherished by many.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Wendy (Kline) Novel; two loving daughters, Victoria and Lori Novel, both of Erie. He is also survived by two grandsons, Darren and Davon Jones, and many extended family members.
As per John’s wishes, no services will be held. A GoFundMe has been set up by his family for donations towards his cremation and memorial costs, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date in late spring.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania 16502.
