Suzanne M. Esser

Suzanne M. (Gloekler) Esser, age 83, of Erie, PA, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025. She was born in Erie on May 29, 1942, a daughter of the late Robert and Joan (Rosenbaum) Gloekler.
Sue was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy and Mercyhurst University where she majored in Chemistry and minored in Math and Biology. She spent 3 years in Germany while her husband was in the service. She was a teacher at St. Andrew Grade School, taught Chemistry as St. Benedict Academy and was a substitute for the Erie City School District.
Cruises were her favorite way to vacation. She went on 49 cruises and really enjoyed the Caribbean trips. She and husband, Bob, spent 27 years wintering in Florida. She loved sailing both on Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie. She was a parishioner at St. Julia Church and previously was a longtime parishioner at St. George Church.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Robert E. Esser, her children Shawn Esser, wife Michelle of Bluebell, PA, Scotte Esser, wife Cynthia of Gibsonia, PA and Elizabeth Elwell, husband Mark of Davidson, NC; and grandchildren Lauren, Nathan, Matthew, Benjamin and Amanda Esser, Eric and Megan Elwell.
She is also survived by her siblings, Patricia Sulkowski, husband Joe, Ellen Gloeckler, Mary Jo Phillips, husband Brad, Robert Gloekler, wife Virginia, James Gloekler, wife Donna and William Gloekler, wife Patricia and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday 11/25 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street. and are invited to a funeral mass on Wednesday 11/26 at 10 a.m. at St. Julia Church, 638 Roslyn Ave. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
