William J. Boyd, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home on November 11, 2025, with his daughters at his side.
He was born on July 28, 1941, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to the late Merle J. Boyd and Dorothy E. (Eck) Boyd-Ralph.
William lived in Erie his entire life. William graduated from Cathedral Prep (class of 1959) and then from Edinboro University, with a degree in Education and later a Masters in Counseling. William dedicated 40 years to the Fairview School District as a guidance counselor. William delighted in attending every event his grandsons participated in, whether it was a play, a sporting event, or an award ceremony. His grandchildren knew they could count on him not just for a ride or a hug, but for the kind of unconditional support that shaped their confidence and character. This support and love for his family brought him immense joy and was a testament to the kind of father and grandfather he was.
In addition to his family, William loved watching sports, reading and being in the kitchen at the holidays. William was a member at the Zukor, St. Francis Ushers, and Siebenbuerger Clubs where he enjoyed talking and spending time with friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Boyd and Gary Boyd, his Stepfather Fred Ralph, and many Aunts and Uncles.
William is survived by his loving daughters, Beth Green (Bobby) and Megan Beaton (Rob O’Connell) and grandsons, Tyler Green, Gavin Green, Jack Beaton and William Beaton. He is also survived by several nephews and cousins.
