Sherill Boyd, 94 of New Sharon passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, February 4, 2026 at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Memorial services will begin at 1:30 pm Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon with Anthony Nieuwsma officiating. A visitation/coffeetime will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. A private burial will be held in the Union Mills Cemetery at Union Mills. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Church that will be used for future missions or Child Evangelism Fellowship "CEF". Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Sherill Ann Boyd, the daughter of Mark and Lucille (Appelgate) Harter, was born on December 12, 1931 in New Sharon, Iowa. She graduated from New Sharon High School with the class of 1949. Following graduation, Sherill worked at the Iowa Power and Light Company and Mahaska Bank. On July 5, 1951, Sherill was united in marriage to Donald Boyd. To this union six children were born, Richard, Lori, Jill, Jan, Steve and Mary. Sherill was a homemaker before working at North Mahaska School for over 24 years. She was a 70 plus year member of the First Christian Church where she played the organ and piano for many years. She was also a member of the Loyal Daughters, Vantastics and directed the choir at church. Sherill enjoyed playing the piano and organ, but above all spending precious time with her family.

Her legacy is honored by her children, Lori (Roger) Soppe, Jill (Kerry) Lake, Jan (Mike) Broerman, Steven Boyd and Mary Brand (Alan Schneider); a daughter-in-law, Janet Boyd; 13 grandchildren plus spouses, 38 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Sherill was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; a son, Richard Boyd; a granddaughter, Niccole Thomas and a daughter-in-law, Debra (Dieleman) Boyd.
