John David Oakes, Jr, 67, of Bartlett, Tennessee, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 27, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., December 27, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Brister Cemetery. Rev. David Johnson will officiate the services.
John was born on November 20, 1958, to John David Oakes, Sr., and Shirley Jean Erwin in Pittsburgh. He was in Maintenance. John loved to fish, go boating, and bowling.
John is survived by his wife, Letha Oakes of Bartlett, Tennessee; son, John Kevin (Kassie) Oakes of Louisville, North Carolina; grandson, Jude Oakes; sister, Lena Spears of Cordova, Tennessee; and aunts Pearline Cummins and Betty Long.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John David Oakes, Sr. and Shirley Jean Erwin, sisters, Shirley Davis and Sharon Johnson.
