At a young age, John and his family moved to the Orlando, FL area where he attended school, playing football at Lake Mary High School. He enjoyed the water whether it was taking the boat out on the lake, fishing or hitting the beach. In part of his adult years, he lived for several years in Asheville, North Carolina and loved being near the mountains before returning back to Florida. John wasn't a bad golfer either and was a skilled contractor.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond and his sisters Jill Allyson Oberdas and Sandra Schlamel. He survived by his mother Marge Curtis and brother Derek Schlamel, his niece Elizabeth Schlamel and nephew Derek Schlamel II. Many thanks to John's closest friends; particularly, Nina and Bobby for showing John love and support. He will be deeply missed.
At this time, no formal services are scheduled. Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service of Bunnell,
FL will be assisting with arrangements - www.HeritageFlagler.com. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made in John's name to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/.
